We have never really understood when you work with nature, why you would ever want to do anything or use anything that will harm the planet that supplies your product. This is why we grow our flowers without chemicals, and using no-dig principles, so we can help preserve the soil, look after our ecosystems, and preserve nature and the planet.
We make our own compost and plant feeds to aid the growing of the flowers. Any additional potting composts and seed composts are peat free too.
We also try hard to eradicate single use plastic through our growing and the wider business. We try to do everything we can within our business to limit, and where possible, avoid single use plastics within our products, our office, and our supply chains. This means not using floral foam, and making sure that our flowers are delivered to you in sustainable paper wraps rather than cellophane for example.
Where we can we make sure our cards and gifts are created with eco-responsible materials, such as FSC paper. All our rough notes and drawings are scribbled on the back of old scripts and second hand paper. We try to run a paper free office with our growing notes stored online for easy access, and the servers that host our website and growing notes are run using 100% on renewable energy.
By growing and selling locally, we can avoid the 100's of carbon miles racked up by mass produced blooms from the international wholesale markets. Because our flowers don't have to travel, we don't need to use any chemical preservitives to keep them looking fresh. They are sold to you just picked.
We do use some plastic in the production of our flowers, but we wash and reuse as much as we can to get the most out of it's lifespan before it is discarded (or ideally recycled).
In the growing of our flowers we use:
